Tour Description

Our first recce into the Balkan region. 12 days The tour starts just outside the Austrian town of Villach, which is about 15kms from the Slovenian border. Here we'll meet up, go through the plan for the next few days and sort out fuel/food/water etc... We aim to spend the first 3-4 days heading south through Slovenia, tackling some very promising tracks along the way. The next 4-6 days will be in Croatia and focusing on the coastal regions along the Mediterranean sea. The last few days see us heading back into Slovenia and follow a potentially more challenging route back to the small town of Podkoren on the Austrian-Italian border. As with the very nature of a recce tour, they can be very dynamic and "play it by ear" each day. Things change, tracks are way more difficult than expected, weather can play a part. So at all times vehicles and passengers will need to be able to effectively make camp anywhere (within reason obviously 😁) and have food etc to last a couple of days. Each vehicle will need to have a decent sized fridge and suitable water carrier to allow for flexibility as we travel along. Whilst accessing food and fuel isn't expected to be an issue, having the ability to carry extra of both if needed is a bonus. Vehicles need to be well prepared. Have good condition off road biased tyres (with full size spare + tools to change), underbody protection, recovery points front and rear and ideally a low box transfer case. *An SUV type 4x4 is most welcome on this tour but we cannot guarantee it won't be very challenging at times without low ratio gears. Standard recce exclusions apply. The tour price does not include any tolls, ferry's, accommodation or personal items. We recommend you ensure your insurance company covers you for Croatia and Slovenia and that you have appropriate roadside recovery or repair in place. **If the worst happens, we won't leave you stranded.
