Tour Description

From rolling hills to mountain peaks, deep dark lochs to rugged coastline, this grand tour has it all. Using a mix of permissive wild sites and "proper" sites with facilities, we criss cross our way around and through the fabulous Highlands. The point of this tour is to showcase the stunning scenery and, at this time of year, vocal wildlife. This is prime season for the Red Deer rut and all of its antics. Don't be surprised if you hear the male stags deep bellowing right near your tent at 3am 😉. We may also hear and see plenty of Scotlands other inland native wildlife with eagles, Highland Coo's and Haggis all being spotted in autumn. At our coastal sites though, we may also see dolphins, seals, sea otters and sea eagles. It really should be a photographic dream trip. We begin the tour by meeting up near to Crieff, Perthshire and at our hotel for the night on Sunday. The next 5 nights are all camping and all have a unique aspect to their location. Ending the tour near the Trossachs National Park on the Saturday morning perched at around 600m above sea level overlooking one of Scotlands finest glen's. This is not a traditional "off road" tour, this is very much a road trip that you will need a 4x4, decent all terrains and a sensible wading depth to enjoy. Each day brings something that will require a 4x4 to complete. Be it tracks, river crossings or getting to our camping locations, you will be glad you own a 4x4 😎 As this tour consists of several wild camping locations, we must stress that large ground tents may struggle to find large enough flat areas to pitch up. We must also mention the fabulous Scottish weather. It could be beautiful sunshine and not a breath of wind, or sideways rain and a definite chill in the air. So please expect and pack for both! 😂 Each day will include about 3½ hours of driving. This allows plenty of time for stopping to see the many unique and very Scottish points of interest we have planned.
