Tour Description
If you love exploring places few people ever get to see, then this is the Recce is for you! Join us as we venture deep into the wild landscapes of Latvia and Estonia, travelling hundreds of kilometres along forest tracks, gravel roads, and remote backcountry routes. Our journey begins in Preiļi, Latvia, where we'll leave the tarmac behind and head north through the heart of rural Latvia, discovering breathtaking scenery, dense forests, peaceful lakes, and authentic Baltic countryside. Crossing into Estonia, we'll continue our off-road adventure north near the Russian border, stopping at the vast shores of the stunning Lake Peipus—one of Europe's largest lakes. From there, we'll push on to the northernmost reaches of mainland Estonia, exploring hidden tracks and spectacular coastal landscapes along the way. We'll board a ferry to the incredible island of Saaremaa, a true hidden gem for overlanders. Often described as a secret paradise, Saaremaa boasts more than 3,000 km of unpaved tracks packed into one beautiful island, making it off-road destinations in Northern Europe. With a combined 87,000 km of tracks and unpaved roads across Latvia and Estonia, the Baltics offer endless opportunities for exploration. From remote forests and forgotten military roads to coastal trails and charming villages, every day brings a new adventure. After returning to mainland Estonia, we'll follow tracks south along the Gulf of Riga, enjoying spectacular coastal views before finishing our unforgettable expedition near Liepāja, Latvia. We have campsites in mind when planning the route, but we don't book campsites in advance as we don't know how far each day we will get through the route. That is why we don't include accommodation during these tours. It's all about embracing the adventure and the unknown.
