The Marne and The Somme Battlefields Tour
Explore the historic Marne and Somme battlefields
Tour Description
Join us for a memorable four-day 4x4 tour through the historic battlefields of the Marne and the Somme, exploring some of the most significant sites associated with the First World War. This is more than just a 4x4 tour. It's an opportunity to combine your passion for off-road touring with history, education and remembrance. We'll visit a number of important memorials and historic locations,, taking time to understand the events that took place and to pay our respects to those who served and lost their lives. Our itinerary will include visits to the moving Thiepval Memorial and Museum, the impressive Lochnagar Crater, and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, along with other significant battlefield sites along the way. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy something a little different, with a visit to a local vineyard for a Champagne tasting, giving us a chance to experience another side of this beautiful region. Based at a serviced campsite for three nights, this tour offers a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and historic locations. Although not every section of the route will be on tracks, your 4x4 will be an essential part of the experience, allowing us to travel between points of interest using the rural, unpaved roads and tracks. This is a unique opportunity to discover history, remember the past and enjoy the journey in your 4x4. We will be running this tour as a small group of just 4 vehicles plus us. We'll be meeting near to Reims at 10:00am on Sunday.
